I have gone bubbles!

Susie Lau Bubble is officially a huge inspiration of mine, I have done a few posts on her before regarding my fashion coursework. I have now come to the stage in my assignment where I can decide a garment inspired by her amazing style! Something which I have found challenging, exciting and alot of hard work. I cannot wait to construct my final design and show you all.

I use my sketchbook as a way to jot down any inspiration, doodles or important information I may need in the
future to refer back to. An important stage of my design process is to look at various different areas of inspiration, from street style to art exhibitions. This stage is extremely interesting! But if you search to far into things you can be surrounded by so much inspiration it can be hard to finalise ideas.

I love experimenting with mixed media! Paper and sewing machines are a perfect combo when it comes to creating something quirky inspired by Susie herself.

Collage is also something I really enjoy doing, it's a great way of using up any old scraps of newspapers and magazines you have left over, recycle and make something unique. Here I have used both newspaper and magazines, this gives the outcome of a two tone texture effect which turned out to be very successful and geometric inspired.

This whole process leads to alot of mess! My bedroom floor is an organised creative working area, it always suffers the consequences of critical creative thinking.

I find it more beneficial to work in the mornings as your brain is fresh and awake. Working in the mornings to complete work or start a new assignment is very productive.. Especially for me. I cherish half terms alot. In the morning I feel alot more motivated to tick things off my to-do list and get tasks done. This allows you to get all coursework out of the way at the start of the day, allowing the rest of the day for relaxing or making plans.

This year I need to focus on making sure I'm getting enough sleep and not staying up all night catching up on coursework - 100% attendance leads to deadlines being met and no stress.
Enjoy,

''In a BUBBLE!''

The term has began again at college and the new assignment is in full swing. My inspiration for this week is my new discovery - Susanna Lau Susie Bubble, she is an editor, writer and style blogger. Not only is she on top form with her style she is incredibly wacky and inspiring. She does one of my dream jobs which is running a full time blog and being able to join in with freelance projects for Elle & Dazed digital.

''Susie Bubble wasn't made up by myself, it was my friend Sarah Hill at primary school that gave it to me. Then the whole class started calling me that - it's because I always looked like I was in a world of my own, in a BUBBLE!''

Her style represents her as a person, she represents a confident and creative woman which is something which also inspires me. She likes to document her style within her own social networking sites to inspire others and their own wardrobe choices.

Here are some examples of her eccentric style. I love the fact she will combine patterns, shapes and styles to complete one look. In a weird way I think her style choices work if you were to be roaming the streets of Paris, Milan or New York you would definitely stand out, her wardrobe must be like a time capsule from all different eras. Her style is so drastic from one style to another. People have often asked her if she dresses normal... What is the meaning of dressing normal? To me I think everybody has their own individual style and names should not be put on specific wardrobe choices. Fashion is used to express ourselves.
